Are you feeling insecure? Do you worry that your basic needs are not being met or in danger of loosing your security? If so, your root chakra may be sluggish and in need of some balancing. Today is the day to take back control of your life and balance your root chakra!

Red is the primary color of your first or root chakra which is located at the base of your spine on the pelvic floor. Close your eyes and visualize a red, forward facing lotus flower rotating clockwise. In its healthiest state, it should be shining brightly and spinning smoothly. What is the state of YOUR root chakra? Are there hesitations? Are there dark areas? Are you having trouble seeing it?

In addition to meditation, crystals such as tiger’s eye, smokey quartz and blood stone, yoga, reiki, there are foods that you should be consuming to balance your root chakra, making you feel more grounded, empowered and strong.

Protein is associated with strength and vitality, so eating beans is a great way to connect with the root chakra. Also, red apples, cherries, strawberries, red peppers and raspberries are delicious foods to help you feel the empowerment. Potatoes are from the ground and can help you feel “grounded.” Beets and red potatoes are both from the ground and are also red so they offer double strengthening power.

Before you eat these foods, set your intention to balance your root chakra. Remember, while you’re eating, the amazing healing that you are accomplishing by eating these fabulous foods. Always take a moment to be grateful for each meal and that will super-charge your food even more!
